Appointments

If you have never attended therapy or counselling, you might not be sure what to expect.

Below are some common questions you might find helpful.

If you have any further questions feel free to contact us.

General

  • Please contact our friendly administrative team on (08) 9334 5696, email us directly at admin@flexiblethinkingclinic.com.au, or use our contact us form.

There is currently immediate availability to start your appointments.

  • A referral is not required to attend appointments.

However, if you would like to access the Medicare rebate of $141.85 for up to 10 sessions each calendar year, you will need to have a valid GP referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) from a GP.

Alternatively, you can obtain a referral letter from a psychiatrist.

If you have any questions, please contact us.

  • Appointments are approximately 50 minutes.

  • We will spend the first 1-2 sessions obtaining assessment and background information to then be used to formulate a detailed treatment plan.

Individuals with OCD on average, require between 16-22 sessions of exposure and response prevention (ERP) treatment over a period of 6-12 months.

  • Initially, a minimum of fortnightly appointments is recommended for timely completion of assessment and set up of ERP treatment.

Appointments can then become less frequent once you are confident with ERP practice between sessions and you enter the maintenance phase of therapy.

Fees & Rebates

  • The fee is $300 per session.

Please note this is below the fee recommended by the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

  • Yes, you can. If you have health insurance that covers psychology/counselling as extras cover, you may be eligible for a rebate.

It is recommended that you contact your insurance provider prior to your appointment to determine your individual cover. Please note, you cannot claim a Medicare rebate and private health rebate simultaneously.

  • Cancellations or rescheduling requires greater than 24 business hours from your designated appointment time to avoid a cancellation fee.

We request that you provide as much notice as possible if you are unable to attend your appointment.

    • If you are charged a cancellation fee, Medicare rebates and private health rebates are unable to be provided. Late cancellation or non-attendance without notice will incur a fee of 50% of session cost.

    • We request that you email the practice at admin@flexiblethinkingclinic.com.au or call and leave a voicemail on (08) 9334 5696 at any time if you are unable to attend an appointment.

  • Lisa is an unregistered NDIS provider. As such, she accepts NDIS clients who are plan or self-managed.

“If uncertainty is unacceptable to you, it turns into fear.

If it is perfectly acceptable, it turns into increased aliveness, alertness and creativity.”
